Where we're recording from...
News
Just to let you all know we've started work on the new album. We've found a great place to record on a farm down the M56 outside Manchester. We've been in there for a couple of weeks now mainly setting gear up & ironing out our usual technical problems! We've also bought some great vintage studio gear we've always fancied (I won't bore you with the details). The idea is to record everything here & maybe mix elsewhere & produce the record ourselves, but knowing us lot, that could all change if we get sick of the smell of cow s*** on the farm!
It's very early days so don't expect anything too soon, but there's loads of ideas kicking around & we're all well excited about where we're going to go on this one.
Keep your eyes out on the site, as we'll be posting on there from time to time to let you know how i'ts going and lastly, sorry but we won't be doing any festivals or gigs this year as we want to concentrate on the record (but we will be attempting the occasional DJ slot!). Much thanks to all of you as ever for sticking with us.

Its always great hearing that a band you love are working on a new album, but when its Doves - well. Its even better :)

My birthday's gift was "Some Cities" (I wrote it long ago, do you remember?), and I listen it every day. I'd like to say that this album is...I don't have words to say how this album is marvelous!!!

Awesome, awesome news. I'm thoroughly thrilled. Oddly enough, i just came on the site for the first time in ages looking for information on any potential albums, and here is a very promising entry just one day prior to my visit.

Fantastic news to hear that you guys are down on the farm getting creative, saw you twice last year in Newcastle and as ever you were on the ball from minute one. You lovely laddies! Admirable work ethic, I just worry that in the superspeed consumption of current music that the "shelf-life" of any bands back catalogue suffers, especially the high quality of yours. I'm of the opinion that great music, like great films, books, art etc improve with repeated listenings/viewings/readings - and I have no doubt that Doves music (all of it!) will be a part of many peoples lives for the rest of their lives, I just don't want to see you knackered out by "market demands", even if we're all pleased to hear more.
To sum up: I don't want your Skilled Soulful Passionate Music gobbled up and shat out too quickly
by an increasingly soulless wider audience to the cost of the bands physical & mental health. Mabye I'm just getting older. Lottalove to you all.xxx.

This is muy first visit here since the last broadcast days. I have to say this is a really warm place, fill with great comments and feelings.
I can't wait to here more music from DOVES. I've been a follower since Lost Souls and in so many ways that record returned to me the faith in music. I can't recall a day in my life without hearing at least one Doves song since these days. You have SOUL, even if it's lost, and I hope you never change that!!!
All of your records are simply amazing! I'm hearing right now a CD from some guys called "Four Days Hombre" and they brought to me lots of memories from you and Elbow. It's a very enjoyable CD, hope you like it.

Can't wait for the next round!!! Growing up on a farm in the great state of Nebraska in the US, putting up with the smell of cow ding dongs was the least of our worries. We always worried about who wasn't gonna make it over the fence when we went cow tipping at midnight. There was always someone who would slip in the hooptie and fall....thus allowing the cow to catch up and boot him up and over the fence. Giddy up!!!!
